Party season – so fun! And so dangerous for your waistline
’Tis (almost) the season for serious year-end socialising. It’s inevitable that you’ll end up with a sausage roll in your mouth… Or maybe not, thanks to these clever tricks.
1. Do a walk-through

2. Water down
Upon arrival, give yourself about 15 minutes with a glass of sparkling water. If you go straight for a cocktail, you’re more likely to over-indulge in food later.

3. Meet and greet
You eat more when you’re comfortable with the people you’re with. Instead of sticking with your office buddies, go chat to the corporate big wigs. You’ll slow down on the chow-down (and maybe even fast track your career).

4. Up your activity level
Dance or stand… The longer you’re on your feet the more you’ll help your body burn extra kilojoules, which can help to compensate for that second helping.

5. Be mindful
Remember the difference between hunger and habit. Eat until you’re satisfied, not stuffed.
