These Real-Life Role Models Just Got Their Own Barbie Dolls

We all remember playing with Barbie, who had, like, a million jobs, a Malibu mansion… and Ken – she literally had it all. Well, Barbie just got a whole lot more inspiring, with a new line of dolls showcasing real-life Sheroes (female heroes), who have broken the glass ceiling and are proving that anything is possible.

For International Women’s Day (8 March), Barbie has debuted 17 new dolls honouring female heroes from the past and present. With 14 modern-day role models, including Nicola Adams, the only woman ever to have held four amateur boxing titles (yup!), Lorena Ochoa, one of the top female golfers in the world, and Chole Kim, the youngest woman to win a gold medal in snowboarding.

They also introduced a new line of Inspiring Women dolls featuring the first female aviator, Amelia Earhart, artist and activist Frida Kahlo, and Katherine Johnson, a pioneer in mathematics, who broke barriers in race and gender.

According to their site: “These dolls pay tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before.”
