Ever wonder while watching Beyoncé drum-lining at Coachella and her slaying at her “On The Run II” tour how her face still stays in tact? What’s the trick to sweat-proofing while maintaining that queen-like glow?

We scooped the secret behind Beyoncé’s flawlessness from her make-up artist. Sir John, global make-up artist to the stars – and we mean big stars the Queen B, Solange, Kim Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Karlie Kloss, was in SA to update Woolworths staff members on industry best practices.

Here, he lobs his sage insider tips that may upgrade your beauty regime:

1/ Start With Healthy Skin

A glowing make-up look often looks so immaculate because of a well-prepped skin. Not only does it make a smoother canvas for foundation but it also helps your makeup stay longer. Sir John believes a good exfoliation using a cleansing brush will help you achieve a healthy glowing skin. “People shouldn’t compliment your foundation. They should compliment your skin,” says Sir John. Try Remington Reveal Facial Cleansing Brush (R400) available at Clicks.

2/ Glowing Skin Is In

Don’t think major layering that leaves your skin feeling and looking horrifyingly cakey! Sir John is noticing that the fresh, dewy, natural skin look is most popular in 2018. How to achieve this? Applying your foundation while your moisturizer is still damp on your skin. Doing this will allow your skin to shine through. To cover pigmented areas use concealer. Try M.A.C Studio Water weight SPF 30 Foundation (R505) available at Edgars.

3/ Layer For Long-lasting Look

If you want a long-lasting make-up look however, layer up. Sir John does not believe in baking. Rather start with a mattifying moisturizer, then apply foundation then follow-up loose powder or translucent powder just to absorb the oil in the foundation or concealer. And in-between layers blot. Try Max Factor Professional Loose Powder Translucent (R166) available at Clicks.

4/ Try The Monochromatic Make-up Look

This is a signature look by Sir John. When you eye colour, lip colour and even blush match. “Using one shade in a multudinous of tones,” says Sir John. Check it out below. Try WBeauty Sheer Lipstick (R140) available at Woolworths. To make your lip colour last, like your foundation, remember to layer. Use a lip liner of the same shade and you can use it under your lipstick shade.
