1. Baked Peaches With Raspberries
This simple dessert can be prepared ahead of time and kept in the fridge for an after-braai treat that won’t weigh you down.
What you need
6 firm ripe dessert peaches
¾ cup sweet wine
For serving
Fresh raspberries
Icing sugar
Fresh mint
Vanilla ice cream or cream (optional)
Method
1/ Preheat the oven to 190°C.
2/ Halve the peaches and remove the stones. Place in a baking dish.
3/ Pour over the wine and bake for 15 minutes or until tender.
4/ Serve chilled, filled with raspberries, sprinkled with icing sugar and garnished with mint. If you like, serve with vanilla ice cream or cream.

2. Baked Strawberries
Who doesn’t love strawberries? This decadent fruit bake is a sweet alternative to lemon meringue for your treat day.
What you need
500g strawberries, hulled
Butter
3 free-range egg yolks
¼ cup sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 cup full-cream milk, warmed
2 tbsp Van Der Hum liqueur
5 egg whites
Icing sugar
Method
1/ Roughly crush the strawberries and turn into a buttered, shallow ovenproof dish.
2/ Beat the egg yolks with two tablespoons of sugar until thick. Beat in the flour, then the warm milk.
3/ Bring to the boil in a saucepan, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and add the liqueur.
4/ Whisk the egg whites until soft peaks form, then beat in the remaining sugar and whisk until stiff.
5/ Lighten the mixture with a little of the beaten egg whites, then fold into the rest of the whites. Spoon over the strawberries and bake at 200°C for 10 minutes. Sift over icing sugar and bake for another five minutes.
