“I Tried A Ginger Shot — This Is What It Did To My Body”

I usually pride myself on never getting sick. But last week was a whole different story. I’m a trail runner – but the only thing that was doing any running was my nose. With a race coming up that weekend, I was willing to give anything a try to regain my health… And so I tried a ginger shot.

Just Ginger… In A Bottle

We all know the stories about these legendary bottled miracles. I’d heard the hype, but I’d never actually given one of them a try. Now, with a racing weekend on the books and desperate for a cure, I went in search of a ginger shot. I hit Wellness Warehouse – where else? And with a Soma cold-pressed ginger shot in hand, I was on my way.

I’ll admit, I was a little nervous to swig down highly concentrated ginger. I mean, I love ginger, but this shot was looking pretty big. Down the hatch. And what do you know, it was actually good, burning in a nice “I’m killing all the germs” kinda way.

While I can’t say the shot magically fixed me (I was already pretty sick when I began searching for help), I can say that it perked me up enough to finish my work for the day, embrace the traffic home and crawl into bed.

The Major Benefits Of Ginger

The ginger root, originating in China, has been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes, but it’s becoming more trendy now. This may have something to do with Selena Gomez downing a ginger shot in James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. But China and Selena are definitely on to something.

Ginger has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which means it can fix all kinds of problems.

It’ll Boost Your Immunity

If you, like me, tend to do everything on the fly and don’t allow your body time to rest and recover, you could probably do with ginger shots. Wearing down your body lowers your immune system, making you more vulnerable to all those office bugs. Ginger, an antioxidant, fights free radicals and toxins in your body. And if you’re already feeling sick, its anti-inflammatory properties will aid in your recovery, speeding up the process.
