How to make a Piña Colada that’s healthier
Start with 30ml of rum and add 1⁄4 cup unsweetened coconut cream, 1 cup fresh pineapple and 1 cup ice, then blend away. “At about 1 000 kilojoules, it’s similar to a smoothie,” says nutritionist Keri Gans. “And it provides a satiating balance of fibre, healthy fats and unrefined carbohydrates.” The cherry on top? Fresh pineapple and coconut boast B, C and E vitamins for energy, immunity and glowing skin.
