Weight loss is never easy, sorry to burst your bubble if you thought it was.   From detoxes that promise you’ll lose 10kgs in a week to diets that basically make you starve yourself. The real truth is there is no magic trick to weight loss. All it takes is a lot of hard work and consistency.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn some tips and tricks along the way. Here are 5 women that know exactly what it’s like to battle with weight loss and totally win.

Planning Is Everything

Just over two years ago, Stacy weighed 127 kilos. But with exercise and healthy eating Stacy has managed to lose 28kgs, come off her insulin resistance medication and reverse her symptoms of PCOS.

“Weight loss is all in the planning. Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Always have meal prep done to avoid having to find something to eat which leads to eating the wrong things. When you’re craving something sweet, try and find the healthiest alternative to satisfy your craving. Forget about the crazy diets, do research and start seeing every meal as an opportunity to nourish your body instead of something you do to get full”. — @fitcity_girl

Positive Thinking Goes A Long Way

Rushaan began her journey weighing in at 108 kilos. She has since lost 16kgs in a year and she did it all while working a full-time job and raising 4 kids.

“Every day won’t be a great day but choose to focus on the good. It’s only with a positive attitude that your mindset would change. Remember that it’s never too late to start, so choose to listen to that inner voice that encourages you, that pushes you to live better and be better. Don’t let the negative voices rule how you see yourself” — @fitishat40

“Though having a scale is a point of reference and a measurement of sorts, the numbers should not be your ultimate focus. I highly recommend the use of weekly progress pictures and the fit of your clothing. I am a testament to this, to date I have lost 15kgs in total but I have however dropped six dress sizes.  We should not let ourselves be defined by numbers but rather focus on improving your health and wellness”. — @Fitlikemummy

2012…popping bottles and apparently buttons too ⁣ ⁣ I was quite heartsore when i saw this “before” pic on Friday that I haven’t seen in a long time… & i wasn’t even at my biggest here (125kg)…i spent nearly a decade morbidly #obese ⁣ ⁣ This was hours before i saw my most favourite band in the world, Linkin Park. I was so self conscious & embarrassed. I was in a shitty relationship, and i was next level depressed.⁣ ⁣ Don’t lose hope, it didn’t take me 6 years to #transform ⬇️⁣ ⁣ ➡️In 9 months i had shed 30kg, but the years that followed, and slow loss of an additional 15kg, have taught me many, many lessons about weightloss & keeping it off.⁣ ⁣ “The mind is a powerful force. #TransformationTuesday ~ If you focus on RESULTS, you will never change. If you focus on CHANGE, you will get results ? ~ ~ 115 kg’s ➡ 75 kg’s ~ ~ PS. Please excuse my fashion sense? This is just one of the ‘advantages’ to training at home ? #colorcoordinateforwho ________________________________________________________ #roxysfitnessjourney #TT #alphafemale #aspiretoinspire #fitness #weightloss #weightlossinspiration #weightlossjourney #bodybuilding #BuildYourBody #BestSelf #transformation #determination #strong #instahealth #fatlossjourney #fattofit #fatloss #flexibledieting #iifym #iifymgirls #nutrition #balance #wellness #strongwomen #followmyjourney #sixtythreehairambassador @sixtythree_hairstudio

” It’s easy to focus on the number on the scale and become wrapped up in being a smaller version of yourself. When I stopped focusing on becoming smaller and focused my energy on becoming stronger, fitter and better, that’s when I felt my best. It’s okay to want to lose weight, but having your mind set on a specific number will eventually cause you frustration and discourage you. Remember that journey is lifelong not a race, so focus on what matters- your health”. — @roxystrydom_fitnessjourney
