The first-ever Ministry of Fitness workout party hit The Galleria in Sandton on 7 December, created by Media24 Live for Men’s Health and Women’s Health and powered by Totalsports. Nearly six hundred people packed the space. And with a massive sound rig, light show and smoke machine, it was certainly no gym studio. In fact, it was more like a hot new night club.

Banging Beats, Epic Workouts
The night kicked off with QueenFitnass Mapule Ndhlovu exploding onto the stage, accompanied by DJ Nikiwe Nyembe on the decks. Her workout started off gentle enough, but in true #TrainLikeMaps style, it levelled up fast. Soon the Ministry Of Fitness crowd was doing high kicks and tuck jumps and loving every second.
Next up, Angelique and Jacques van der Linde of JVL Lifestyle brought the HIIT to Ministry Of Fitness with an energetic, sweaty fusion of dance, aerobics and boxing.
Just when we thought the energy couldn’t get any higher, fitness crew Fitness Icon took it up a notch and then some with their hip-hop inspired Cardio Dance Evolution class, which whipped the crowd into a frenzy.
To end the night, SWEAT 1000’s Paul Rothschild and Bjorn Steinbach led a frenetic class that saw the crowd leaving their last drop of energy on the floor. They left Ministry Of Fitness on an endorphin high, with big, sweaty smiles and aching muscles.
Prizes, Treats And Spoils!
While the main action at Ministry Of Fitness was happening onstage, there was plenty of excitement during the breaks as well with prizes up for grabs and fun activities. Clere gave away four large wellness hampers, which included a Pilates mat and a bag, as well as self-care products from Clere.
Estée Lauder offered make-up touch-ups and kept people fuelled with nourishing smoothies.
The Go Multivitamin wheel of fitness gave people the chance to win prizes or do fitness forfeits like burpees and skipping.
And with everyone working so hard on the floor, Fry’s vegan kasha smoothies were the perfect high-protein snack.
Official hydration partner Monster Energy Drink had the crowd’s hydration needs taken care of.
