“I’m struggling with urinary incontinence. Is there something I can do to stop it or am I doomed to never being able to laugh or sneeze stress-free again?” How many of you can relate to this question? Yup, it happens – to a lot of us. But there is actually hope. Here, the low-down on how to handle this tricky problem…
The O-shot
“The are many new medical advances and we can be thankful for the growth of regenerative medicine,” says Dr Nicole Kanaris, aesthetic doctor and founder of MedAesthetique. “A new non-surgical procedure, called the O-shot, is now available. It’s a trademarked treatment with only a couple of highly trained doctors who are legally able to perform it in South Africa.”

So how does it work?
“First, blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, then platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is extracted. This is injected into the vagina. PRP has high concentrations of blood platelets, which release growth factors to the treatment site and stimulate new cell growth and regeneration. This helps to tighten and strengthen the tissue, improving the symptoms of stress urinary incontinence. The procedure takes one hour, is not painful and requires no downtime. Results can be seen between six and 12 weeks later.”

More O-shot benefits
“The O-shot also assists with low libido, decreased ability to orgasm, lichen sclerosus (a condition that causes thin, white patches of skin, often in the genital area), vaginal tightness improvement, painful sex and lubrication.”
